In life we are given always given options. Each option leads down a path. It is up to each of us to realize which path will lead us to the destination of our dreams. Together we can conquer any problem. We must come together. We must do the work to understand what works for us to coexist.
I have always felt lucky that my family has always encouraged me to vote. What voting means to me has changed over the years. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to vote for President Obama. Since then the candidate that has most lined up with my values has been Senator Sanders - I appreciate his love for this country, as, I love it, too. This year my vote is to prevent a human being who has an agenda that will create chaos and do irreparable damage. Their attitude towards humanity and the world is what I am voting against.
It stresses me out to think of all of the suffering happening right now. The answers to most societal problems seem so obvious. When it comes down to it. Each human being deserves to live a life that is fulfilling. Every day is a chance to envision a future that is inclusive. We have to be honest and hold ourselves and others accountable. Not to shame but to learn and grow. If we want something different we have to do somethings differently.
The United States is a young country. We don’t have a groove yet. We are still understanding the roots of this country. But, we are still creating the foundation of this country. How will we move forward? Can we move forward with the idea that all of us are created equal? We need people who want to lead us to lead. Whatever their field - science, medicine, clean energy, mental health, art, law, philosophy - all of it. The people who believe in change and working together will propel us forward. We need more positive action.
Life is complicated. We each have our own journey. No one is better than anyone. Each of us has something to bring to the table. If we can figure out how to move past our fears and process the blocks that hold us back - there are infinite possibilities.
I hope we can come together to see the bigger picture. There is so much work to do to create a country that realizes policy that supports individuals to live a fulfilling life. Which means, we need everyone. Everyone who has a vision. Everyone who wants to help. E v e r y o n e. It’s up to us to care more about each other. We have to step up. Every day.
